About 15-20 minutes by taxi from the medina, the Majorelle Garden is a must-see. This botanical garden takes its name from painter Jacques Majorelle, who created it in the 1920s-30s and developed the vivid "Majorelle Blue" that still covers the garden's walls.
After decades of neglect, the garden was rescued in 1980 by Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé. Saint Laurent's ashes, after his death in 2008, were scattered here.
What to See
Towering cacti, palm trees, lotus ponds, set against cobalt-blue walls and bright yellow pots. The Berber Museum and, next door, the Yves Saint Laurent Museum (separate ticket) round out the visit.
Practical Information
Ticket queues can be long: book online or arrive at opening. Allow 1-1.5 hours. From Riad Dar Kawkawa, it's about a 15-20 minute petit taxi ride.
