3-4 hours from Marrakech via the Tizi n'Tichka pass, the ksar of Ait Benhaddou is a UNESCO-listed fortified pisé village, once a caravan-route stop to the Sahara.
A world-famous film set
The ksar has appeared in Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and Game of Thrones. A few families still live there, most having moved across the Ounila River.
What to see and do
