Bahia Palace, a 19th-century masterpiece
Built for Grand Vizier Si Moussa and completed by his son Ba Ahmed, Bahia Palace ("brilliance") features carved cedar ceilings, elaborate zellige tilework, and courtyards that once formed the wives' apartments.
El Badi Palace, ruined splendor
Built in the 16th century by Saadian Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur, once adorned with gold and marble, it was stripped by Sultan Moulay Ismail. Only massive walls remain, where storks nest, and it hosts the annual Popular Arts Festival.
